Freedom Argument

Sound the Alarm!
Too many wrongs have been done
And, they’ve been done since the beginning of time
Since consciousness first thought to itself
and gave birth to the ego
Murders have been commited
Burglary has been justified
The burden has been placed on the innocent
Lies create disease

Oh, what are you yelling about?
Don’t you have drugs to take?
Isn’t there someone you have to lean on?
Don’t you have a vice that needs to be fixed?
You are weak like us
But, we are better than you
We always know what is best

How is it that you know me so well?
All my weaknesses?
Why must I be addicted?
Why does your help feel so wrong?
Why should I believe you?
How can I not believe in myself?

How dare you question what has been established
We do the best that we can
And, we do plenty
All just for you
You do not understand
And, never will
Go back to work
Go back to your apathy
To your comfort

Why must you turn ugly when I wonder?
Are we not friends?
Are we not family?
Maybe you’re the enemy I’ve been sleeping with all along
However, I believe that in my heart of hearts
that everything can and will be better

Oh, you are so knowing
that all knowledge will die with you
You’re heart is smaller than the truth
And, you are biting off more than you can swallow
But, do entertain us with your great solution

It is when we choose that our ideas are not binding contracts
When the greedy choose to share
When the powerful choose to let things be
When the weak choose to be strong
When the ignorant choose to learn forever
When the enablers choose to inspire
When the killers choose life
When the addicted choose to be content
When the oppressors choose to acknowledge greatness
When we choose to be as unlimited as our creativity
When I choose to love and value myself
Every thought is a choice
The path to Freedom is never straight
Happiness is never far away

But…
Truth is always at hand
